Working on the Tour Tracker website for AOL was a white knuckle ride.

Due to contractual obligations we had a short time frame to build and deploy the website, but with AOL existing user base we knew when we opened the site we’d have millions of page views to serve each day.

Fortunately we were able to leverage AOL existing server infrastructure to host the website, which meant working with Java instead of PHP or Ruby on Rails.

As the AREA 17 Technical lead I was responsible for the development of the website, making use of API’s developed by AOL staffers, and HTML/CSS provided by AREA 17 front end developers.
